AWAKE was conceived before VR
AWAKE is a story that’s not been able to be told until the emergence of Virtual Reality as my ideal medium of creative expression. For me, there are far more parallels to dreamworld narrative than physical media craft. In non-physical states of consciousness, you are the centre of focus and it’s the dreamworld that reflects your thoughts and feelings. Environments flow around you rather than you moving anywhere spatially and it is metaphor, pun and symbolism that drive the narrative.

This storytelling style is well-suited to VR and is a big part of why AWAKE is based around otherworldly dreams and non-physical realities. The story is a personal one, blending my own dreamworld encounters but with countless testimonials and research done on the subject since I was old enough to hold a library card.
Process & Production
By leveraging a combination of design thinking, agile methodologies, and collaborative feedback loops, we ensured that each stage of development was aligned with Oliver's artistic vision and business objectives.
The project process began with a discovery phase to understand Oliver's goals, followed by wireframe and mockup development to shape the website's design. Incorporating Oliver feedback, we then moved into development, focusing on a responsive and visually appealing site. Rigorous testing ensured functionality across devices, culminating in a successful launch and a handover session for future site management.
